By default the shopping module will display the latest items from all shopping categories and the limit of the displayed items will be used from the menu item, so if you set a limit of 5 for a menu item where the shopping module is in the last 5 items will be shown with the paging at the bottom.

Items can also have custom options just like in Magento, for e.g. lets say this is a tshirt with size and color options. To see how it works just click Add to My Cart and the custom options will be shown to choose from and then item added to the cart.
Custom options are not limited, you can have any amount/type of them, also all shopping items can have special fields defined by you, just edit the Shopping Item form in the Dynamic forms.
